Advancing Hope, Education, and Opportunities for African Children

International Day of the African Child 2026

The Ayo Ogundele Support Foundation proudly joined stakeholders, development partners, government institutions, diplomatic missions, and civil society organizations in commemorating the International Day of the African Child on June 16, 2026, at the Hall of the Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Area 1, Durumi, Abuja.

Organized by Echo Nigeria International in collaboration with SheRise Girls Development Initiative under the leadership of Girl Child Ambassador and Advocate, Joy Life Alegbemi, the event focused on the theme:

“Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) for Every Child in Africa.”

A Shared Commitment to Children’s Well-being

At Ayo Ogundele Support Foundation, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment. Access to clean water, sanitation, quality education, and child protection are fundamental rights that shape a child’s future and contribute to sustainable community development.

Across Africa, millions of children continue to face challenges arising from inadequate access to WASH facilities, affecting their health, dignity, school attendance, and overall development. These challenges are particularly significant for vulnerable children and girls.

Recognizing the urgent need for collective action, the International Day of the African Child provided an important platform for advocacy, learning, and partnership-building aimed at advancing the welfare and future of African children.

Supporting a Vision for Impact

The event brought together over one hundred children from public and private schools across the Federal Capital Territory, creating opportunities for education, mentorship, leadership development, and civic engagement.

Representatives from government institutions, including the National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), FCT Education Secretariat, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, and the Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), joined diplomatic representatives from several African nations to reinforce the importance of investing in children.

A major highlight was the official unveiling of the SheRise Girls Development Initiative, a platform dedicated to promoting girl-child education, leadership, empowerment, mentorship, and advocacy.

The Ayo Ogundele Support Foundation Contribution

As an organization dedicated to uplifting lives through Hope, Love, and Care, the Ayo Ogundele Support Foundation was honored to support this important initiative.

Our contribution helped strengthen children’s participation and enhance the overall success of the event, ensuring that young people were not only present but actively engaged in conversations about their rights, education, health, leadership, and future aspirations.

The Foundation’s involvement reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting programmes that improve the lives of children, empower young people, and create opportunities for vulnerable populations to reach their full potential.

The International Day of the African Child 2026 demonstrated the power of partnership in creating meaningful and lasting impact.

For the Ayo Ogundele Support Foundation, this engagement reflects our broader mission of supporting vulnerable populations, promoting education, empowering future leaders, and fostering communities where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

As we continue to work alongside partners and stakeholders, we remain committed to advancing initiatives that restore hope, promote dignity, encourage learning, and create pathways to a brighter future for children and young people.

Because every child deserves hope.

Every child deserves opportunity.

Every child deserves a future.
